Cesc Fabregas is reportedly on the verge of moving out of Chelsea after he got miffed with Antonio Conte for not picking him in the FA Cup final. Fabregas did play his part in the match when he replaced Nemanja Matic after an hour mark but was not able to score a double as they got thrashed at the hand of his previous club Arsenal.
The player was pretty close to a move to AC Milan due to lack of his game time but rejected a move in the last minute. The Italian club are planning to raid the English outfit again for the service of the talented midfielder.
Fabregas arrived in 2014 from Barcelona and in his inaugural season, he came out as the most influential player registering a record 18 Premier League assists to inspire Chelsea to their fifth Premier League title. His stock had risen rapidly but Chelsea’s subsequent drop of form in the next season had taken a toll on him.
He was one of the players to create a mini-revolt against then coach Jose Mourinho and as a result, the Portuguese had to leave the club despite firing them to the Premier League title last season. Chelsea finished the campaign in a dismal 10th position and the Spanish midfielder has failed to establish himself in the starting lineup since then.
At the start of the season, Chelsea appointed Antonio Conte as their coach and the Italian brought N’Golo Kante to partner Matic in the middle of the park which reduced his game time substantially. Kante proved to be an effective signing as he led the team to their sixth title this season. Despite his limited game time Fabregas had been able to chip in with useful goals and had also racked up nine assists, more than anyone else in his team.
He might not be defensively very sound but his vision and knack of picking pinpoint passes will be an asset to any team. His attacking quality has been vastly used by Conte this season. He appeared in 29 matches in the Premier League and among them, 13 were from the starting lineup.
He started the last four Premier League matches for the Blues as they romped on to the title. Conte is expected to bring a midfielder to the side but despite the latest movements he has to make sure Fabregas stays at the club as the Spanish midfielder still is as effective as ever.
