It has been a very emotional occasion at the Etihad Stadium, as four of their players, who have been involved with the club for a prolonged time, decided to call it a day on their career with Manchester City. The players are goalkeeper Willy Caballero, right winger Jesus Navas, left back Gael Clichy and right back Bacary Sagna. All the players have played a great role for the Citizens to make them win a number of accolades over the years and have achieved a number of memorable feats with the club.
Bacary Sagna, the French right-back, joined Manchester City in 2014 and spent three eventful years at the Etihad Stadium. He played a pivotal role in their defence as well as going up front to initiate counter attacks on the opposition defence. However, he was not at his best in the recently concluded season and was not handed a contract extension for the new season.
His departure from the club has definitely attracted interests from a number of clubs to secure the service of the French right back in the summer. Out of them, a few of the potential suitors whom Sagna might pick as his next destination in the new season are-
Crystal Palace-
The Eagles are considered to be the front-runners to bag the veteran right back in the next season. It has been a gritty performance by Crystal Palace players to save their club from relegation, which was looking almost certain at one point of time in the recently concluded season. This time around though, the Eagles are looking to make an early impact by bringing in players who have good experience of playing in top flight football, and Bacary Sagna can be the perfect one to give a lot of stability to their defence if they are able to sign him for the next season.
Newcastle United-
The Magpies have clinched promotion into the Premier League and are looking to bring in players who can be able to stabilise their defence in order to compete with the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and current champions Chelsea in the next season.Their coach Rafa Benitez has already started to scan for players from various Premier League clubs and Sagna can be a good addition to their lineup for the next season.
Lyon-
There is also a possibility for the French defender to make a move back to his native country and play in the French Ligue 1. In that case, Lyon can be a good option for the ex-Manchester City player to play for.
