Newcastle United have come to the fore with their qualification in the Premier League from the Championship for the next season. As top flight football will be demanding and will be throwing tougher challenges for them to overcome, the Magpies are readying their squad by looking to bring in reinforcements to take on the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal.
Among a number of names linked with a move to Newcastle this summer, a significant one is that of the right winger from French club Angers, Nicolas Pepe. The Ivory Coast international has been one of the stars of the season for his club, powering them into the French Cup final to book a place against former French Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.
Nicolas Pepe, the Angers winger, has been one of the players the Spaniard has been much interested in to add flare to his side’s attack. The right winger has been in sublime form this season, playing a great role in making it a memorable one for his lesser known club side in the domestic tournaments.
Reportedly, his brilliant performance this season has led to the initiation of interests from a number of clubs like Lille, Marseille, Lyon and even the French Ligue 1 champions for this year AS Monaco. German Bundesliga sides Wolfsburg and Hamburg SV have also lined up to make a bid for bagging the youngster for the next season.
Newcastle had tried a hand at making negotiations over a speculated £8 million move for the Ivory Coast international during the last transfer window in January. However, the deal did not come through and the star man of Angers had to stay back with his current club for the rest of the season.
However, that is not stopping the Magpies to make a renewed bid to rope in the youngster in the next season. Newcastle coach Rafa Benitez has reportedly demanded a war chest of £100 million from the Newcastle United top management in his pursuit of putting together a team which will be destined to achieve great things in the upcoming season of Premier League football.
The Ivory Coast international can be a key player for the Newcastle United side, given he agrees to a move away from the French Ligue 1 in the next season. With his agility and pace, and an ability to make inroads into the opposition defence to score goals as well as create opportunities for his team, Nicolas Pepe is regarded as one of the players who has a great future ahead of him.
