With barely few days gone since the Premier League 2016-17 came to an end, some transfers have already been finalised. And what it has essentially done is opening up for more avenues of speculations and this time, with all the more reasons to believe them.
One such rumour doing the rounds is a possible move of AS Monaco’s ace midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko to newly-crowned Premier League champions Chelsea. The French youngster has gained a superstar status this season with Monaco’s title winning season and impressive European campaign, and Chelsea are his long-term admirers.
However, Monaco’s success has restrained the club from letting their star players leave for any other club and Chelsea couldn’t find an opening on the deal. But, recent reports of Belgian giants Anderlecht’s star midfielder Youri Tielemans’ agreement with the French giants could see it all change.
Chelsea have ridden higher on their strong midfield of N’Golo Kante, Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas, who have been instrumental in their successful campaign. And now with Champions League a big priority for the London club next season, manager Antonio Conte is eyeing to get down with a strong bench. Chelsea’s set-up requires hard working individuals at the centre, something which Kante and Matic provide perfectly.
Bakayoko’s addition can be a level up for the Blues given his vibrant presence in the middle. The 22-year-old has been the spine of the Monaco team who was responsible for their smooth transition from defence to attack and vice versa. His role in the Monaco squad has been absolutely essential until Tielemans’ possible move emerged.
As per reports, the Belgian club’s managing director Herman van Holsbeeck has all but confirmed to the media about their dazzling midfielder’s move to France. He said, “Tielemans will undergo a medical at Monaco on Wednesday.”
The 20-year-old, who has won the Belgian Pro Player of the Year, is widely regarded as the next big thing in Europe. And his inclusion definitely makes Bakayoko’s position in the Monaco’s squad questionable. The Belgian has been much more refined, skilful and productive in his game than Bakayoko, who is more of a powerful beast in the middle of the park.
It is obvious that Tielemans’ arrival could push Bakayoko to the bench or a second preference. Chelsea will definitely make the best use of the situation.
Monaco has labelled their star midfielder at a staggering £43 million and Chelsea could well afford it for Bakayoko’s physical attributes could come in immensely handy in the Premier League
