Real Madrid have targeted Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante as a part of their summer revamp plan. Zinedine Zidane’s side just won the La Liga title and are in the contention for a double as they will face Juventus in the Champions League final. Madrid pipped Barcelona to the La Liga title what has been a very neck to neck competition as they had to wait until the last day of the season to be named champions.
Zinedine Zidane has reportedly made his intentions clear to president Florentino Perez and the Spaniard will go to any extent to seal the deal. Kante won back to back Premier League titles with Leicester City and Chelsea respectively and was also crowned the PFA player of the year. The French international has been a vital cog as Chelsea secured their second Premier League title in three years. He started this season from where he left off last season when he guided Leicester City to their maiden Premier League title. He then moved to the Stamford Bridge and continued his brilliance in the middle of the pitch as Antonio Conte’s side lifted the Premier League title almost without any competition.
Real Madrid ensured they maintained their focus in the last session of the season as they romped home to win the La Liga title. Zinedine Zidane worked with the team tirelessly like a veteran manager and rotated the team as per the needs. Casemiro was on the sidelines for a brief period in this season as Toni Kroos filled in his position. But if he stays fit, he remains one of the best holding midfielders in the European circuit currently but his knack of getting injured very often is a grave concern for Zidane.
Kante would be the perfect player in this side as he would give a fool-proof protection to Los Blancos’ back four. Casemiro has the habit of indulging in irrelevant tackles which might have triggered an interest in Kante. The French midfielder has a very clean record in terms of discipline and would be an upgrade on Casemiro who is still learning the pros and cons of the game. Madrid already boasts of two talented players in Toni Kroos and Luka Modric and signing Kante would provide more freedom to the midfield duo. However, Chelsea will be very reluctant to let go one of their key players and it remains to be seen how Madrid approaches the Champions of England.
