The final matchday of this season’s Bundesliga will take place on Saturday afternoon, as the fight for survival for the bottom clubs get intense. In the top, however, Bayern Munich handsomely lead the table by 13 points. With their extraordinary comeback vs Leipzig last week, the Bavarians will be full of confidence when they host Europa League hopefuls SC Freiburg this weekend. Christian Streichs’ men are currently dashing in the sixth position but cannot afford a slip-up. Here
Here is the predicted Bayern lineup to face the men from the Blackforest this upcoming Saturday.
Goalkeeper: Tom Starke announced his retirement at the end of the season, just a few days ago, meaning he joins the likes of Philip Lahm and Xabi Alonso, players who will retire at the end of this season. He is certainly going to start vs Freiburg.
Right Back: It will be a memorable match for Philip Lahm, who will lead his side for one last time this weekend. The German world champion will be featuring in his 332nd match for Bayern, and he will most certainly go down as one of the best defenders in the last decade.
Center Back(R): Jerome Boateng was unhappy due to the fact that Mats Hummels and Javi Martinez were chosen ahead of him this season. However, his poor performances certainly don’t help his cause. He will be looking for a stronger performance this week vs Freiburg.
Center Back(L): A ‘tired’ Mats Hummels didn’t feature against Leipzig last week but is expected to start vs Freiburg alongside Boateng. He has been Bayern’s best defender this season and will surely be even vital next season.
Left Back: David Alaba’s awesome free kick paved the Bayern comeback last week. The Austrian fullback will be looking to continue his brilliant run of form.
Central Defensive Midfielder: Another legendary midfielder, in the shape of Xabi Alonso, will play the final match of his career. The 34-year-old has been a midfield maestro over the years and certainly played a key role for the Bavarians in the past three seasons.
Central Midfield: Joshua Kimmich’s fiery form is a reason why he was chosen in the German squad for the Confederations Cup. The 21-year-old will be looking to invade the opposition with his sharp passing and movements.
Central Midfield: Thiago Alcantara is expected to retain his place in the starting lineup on Saturday. The former Barcelona midfielder was another key man behind Bayern’s iconic win over Leipzig last week.
Right Wing: Arjen Robben has been a wizard for FC Bayern this season. Especially with the out of sorts wingers like Douglas Costa and Kingsley Coman, his form has been vital for Carlo Ancelotti this season. He might be looking to extend his tally of 12 goals this season.
Left Wing: Douglas Costa might start vs Freiburg, The out of sorts Brazil winger was a subject of various rumours, linking him a move elsewhere. So it’ll be a great chance for him to show a glimpse of what he is.
Striker: Robert Lewandowski’s 30 goal tally this season is still not safe, as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is just behind with 29. Scoring a few goals will surely guarantee him two consecutive Torjagerkanone at the end of this season.
