Mamadou Sakho has been one of the players who was in the headlines for all the wrong reasons at the start of the season. But he was left out on loan by his current club Liverpool to join Crystal Palace in the middle of the season and he showed his capability to lift The Eagles out of the relegation zone with some superb defensive displays. Palace coach Sam Allardyce has been more than impressed with the French international and is reportedly looking to make his loan move permanent.
Reportedly, talks are being held between the two clubs over the move. As per sources, the Merseyside club has slammed a price tag of £30 million on the out of favour defender, which might be a bit too much for Crystal Palace to invest so much money on a particular player for the next season. However, The Eagles are negotiating terms with The Reds in order to bag the French centre half in the new season.
Sakho, although being left out of the squad to freeze on the bench during most of the time by the Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp in the current season, showed some serious skills to hold together the backline for Crystal Palace and brought them out of the relegation zone. In case the French international makes his way out of Anfield next summer, one of the following clubs might be his next destination-
Crystal Palace-
The Eagles’ season was revived to a great extent owing to the brilliant performance of the centre-half after he made his loan move from Liverpool. The current coach of Crystal Palace, Sam Allardyce, has been impressed with his performance and wants to hand him a permanent move in to his squad. However, the £30 million tag on him might not allow the ex-England manager to agree to a deal over the transfer of the French international to Selhurst Park.
Southampton-
Speculations are rife that The Saints might lose their influential defender Virgil Van Dijk to either Chelsea or Manchester City, given his brilliant performance and the two aforementioned clubs’ repeated interests in bagging him for the next season. Sakho can be a good replacement for the South Coast club in case they have to let go off their prized possession during the summer transfer window.
Roma-
Sakho can also make a move to the Italian giants Roma in the next transfer market, given that their backline might need a player like him, in case their Greek centre back Kostas Manolas makes it to any of the Premier League clubs. And with Liverpool wary of letting him leave for any of their rivals which won’t won’t be an ideal situation, an overseas club might be somewhere which might seem to be the most likely destination.
