West Ham United have been through a rather disappointing season this term in their campaign in the Premier League. The Hammers are currently sitting at the 12th position and with the season almost ending, don’t have a chance to revive from their dismal performance.
The club management is afraid that given their current position, they might have to let go off quite a few players from their present squad in the forthcoming transfer window. One of them is their brilliant midfielder Manuel Lanzini, whose consistent performances throughout the season has made him one of the hottest summer transfer targets for a number of Premier League clubs including Everton.
Everton have also been through a season in which there are not many memorable moments they can count on. Apart from their Belgian ace Romelu Lukaku being still on top of the goalscoring chart for the current season, Ronald Koeman’s boys have not been able to do anything significant to ignite the hopes for their team finishing in the top four. This has irked the possibility of a major rebuilding of the squad which might include the bringing in of Lanzini from West Ham United during the next transfer window.
Everton’s English midfielder Ross Barkley, who has been in some form during the current season, has reportedly denied to pen down a new contract, with his current one expiring in the next year. This has made the rumours of the English ace being replaced by the Argentine sensation in The Toffees midfield in the next year.
Ronald Koeman, reportedly, also has his eyes fixed on the Swansea City midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson for a very long time now and might look to make him wear the club colours in the next season. However, the rise of Lanzini and his pace along with his ability to score crucial goals at the right time has made him a favourite to the Dutchman, who is prioritising on strengthening the midfield of his team in the next season.
Lanzini came into West Ham United on loan from Argentine club side River Plate in 2015. He was very impressive during the season and was offered a permanent deal of £9.4 million, which he accepted to stay back with The Hammers.
He took up the responsibility to play a key role in the team in absence of their star from the last season, French midfielder Dmitri Payet. The French star left the team in January in a move that saw him go back to the Ligue 1 with Marseille.
