Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are all but into the Champions Leauge, next season and the manager is expected to bring in some exciting talent to help his squad survive the upcoming campaign. Klopp is expected to spend big on top class players but will also be looking at fringe players from around Europe, who can fit in well at Anfield. One such name that is constantly doing the rounds is Luis Muriel.
Known for his dribbling abilities, Muriel is currently playing for Sampdoria in Italy and has been in decent form for his side. He has 12 goals and nine assists in all competitions this season and is a player who loves to have the ball at his feet. He has a key pass percentage that even the best playmakers will be jealous of and it does not come as a surprise that Jurgen Klopp wants to have Muriel in his books next season.
The Reds have been looking at the player for more than a month now and it is now reported that the Serie A club are ready to offload Muriel for his full value.
Liverpool are reportedly making a £20m bid for the player and are ready to add him to their squad. He is a genuine goal scorer, someone who Liverpool have missed this season and his ability to be productive from the wing as well will also attract Klopp.
It is easy to forget that Liverpool have great quality in attack in their ranks. Roberto Firmino, Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi and the forgotten Danny Ings are all expected to play huge roles next season. Sturridge may yet be sold and if he is, Muriel is a decent replacement.
The English striker is one of the best finishers in the game and has recently revealed that he is happy at Liverpool. But his injury history might not be able to earn him a place at the club next season and the 26-year old Columbian star could be playing that role.
Muriel is not as good a finisher as Sturridge neither is he as good a threat in attack. And having also not played in the Premier Leauge yet, he will take his time to adjust to the league. But at 26, he will enter his prime in a couple of years and Klopp will want him to ply his trade in that time at Anfield.
Muriel is a decent option for the Reds but he cannot be the only player Liverpool buy if they sell Daniel Sturridge this summer. They need a more proven goal scorer to help them in the Champions League and the domestic league next season.
