A number of clubs including Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly expressed their interest in Manuel Lanzini. The West Ham United playmaker has been one of the most underrated midfielders in the Premier league currently and has had a pretty successful season with the Hammers. It was his goal that denied Tottenham Hotspur a chance to win the Premier League it was enough to secure a 1-0 win over the North Londoners.
Hammers signed him for a fee of £10m in the last summer after a successful loan stint and since the departure of Dimitri Payet, he has become an undisputed part of the starting lineup. Bilic will be aware of his qualities and will surely look to tie up him up to a new contract.
They certainly cannot match up what the other top six clubs could offer but will certainly try a last-ditch attempt to hold on to him this summer. The club hierarchy is considering their options and might yet offer him a deal. He has become fan favourites at the new London stadium and despite an erratic season he has been one of the most shining lights this term.
Liverpool reportedly have inquired about the player’s availability and could enforce an attempt to hijack his services. There is no surety over Philippe Coutinho’s availability in the next season and if he does leave, Lanzini could be an option for Jurgen Klopp.
By all means, the Hammers should hold on to their prized asset. Arsenal are also in the need of a creative game changer as doubts are hovering over the future of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez. Ozil’s lackluster attitude has earned severe criticism and this might be his last season in a Gunners shirt. Sanchez is believed to be a target for a number of high profile clubs and Arsene Wenger is leaving every option open.
A fantastic dribbler of the ball, Lanzini can utilize spaces in the attacking third. An absolute delight to watch, the Argentine can knit that final ball with ease and technically also, he is quite brilliant. Players of his quality are an asset to any team and Arsenal could go all out for his services. But given the quality of those teams, it will be a bit hard to clinch a permanent place in the starting lineup. So as far as game time is concerned Lanzini should stay at the London Stadium at least for another season to keep his development going.
