Chelsea have been crowned the Premier League champions for the sixth time in their history with two matches still left in their current campaign. It was the Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi whose lone goal helped The Blues to realise this season. It goes without saying that their manager along with all the players are in absolute celebratory mood over the achievement of the feat.
All the players contributed with their best effort into this victory for the West London club. The Spanish left-back Marcos Alonso is one of them, who was brought into the team last summer from the Italian club Fiorentina.
Being a player in the left back position, the Spaniard was deployed in a wing back position in the midfield by the Italian coach of Chelsea Antonio Conte in his new 3-4-3 formation. Alonso has been an absolute gem of a player in the aforementioned position for his team this term, having scored 6 goals and has assisted his teammates three times throughout what has been a gallant season for The Blues.
His brilliant performance in the English Premier League has attracted interests from a number of clubs from all over Europe. This long list also consists of the name of the Spanish giants Barcelona, who has been eyeing to bring in a left back to prevent their defensive woes from repeatedly happening.
Reportedly, Barcelona’s current team management is not happy with the performance of their left back Jordi Alba and he might be shown the door in the summer transfer window. This has called for a new left back to be brought into the squad for the next season and Marcos Alonso fits the bill perfectly for the Catalan club.
As per sources, Barcelona have been looking to revamp their team by offloading a few of their players, who have failed to perform as per expectations in the current season and bring in some fresh faces in their place for next term. With their present coach Luis Enrique leaving after the end of this season, the Catalan giants are looking to get their side ready when their new manager comes in to take the charge of the side.
However, The Blues coach Antonio Conte does not want to let go of his prized possession after just a stint of one season with them. The Spaniard was brought into the side from his former club at a transfer fee of £20 million. Also, it will be up to the player’s consent whether he wants to make the move or not in the next season.
