Watford can play the role party poopers when they travel to Stamford Bridge as Chelsea are scheduled to lift the title at Stamford Bridge on that day. The Blues have already emerged as the Champions of the Premier League as they left it late as Michy Batshuayi turned out to be the provider of probably the most important goal of this season in the last match.
Antonio Conte might ring in a few changes in the squad to check out his reserve bench. Keeping in mind of the FA Cup semifinal he will be very aware of the current situation and he will have the luxury of fielding a second string side in this match.
Unlike Chelsea, Watford will have no pressure as Walter Mazzarri’s side are comfortably placed in the mid-table. In this season in few of the matches, Chelsea hadn’t played well but they have managed to grind out results in their favour.
Troy Deeney vs Gary Cahill
If Watford are to offer anything in the match their captain Troy Deeney has to come with something extraordinary. Deeney has been left out of the last few matches but returned to the starting lineup in the last match.
Gary Cahill will be lifting the title and he has been an inspirational leader in this Chelsea side. In the three-man defence, Cahill stood like a bed of rock as Chelsea have conceded only 29 goals this season. Cahill will be up against Deeney who has been one of the consistent forwards of the Premier League.
Michy Batshuayi vs Sebastian Prodl
Now that the title is confirmed, Conte might include Batshuayi from the start who rarely had a start in this season after arriving from Marseille last summer. Batshuayi scored the all important goal that sealed the title and that could favour him.
Watford haven’t had the best defence in the league but Conte cannot undermine them. Prodl has been a mainstay in the defence but he needs to be at his best to stop a very quick-footed Batshuayi who will be very eager to prove his potential.
Cesc Fabregas vs Etienne Capoue
There were speculation regarding Fabregas’ departure but he stayed later on and Conte seemed to be very satisfied with his performance. The Spaniard has chipped in with some valuable goals and talking about his current form Conte won’t show the courage to drop one of his inform midfielder.
Capoue has shown some early promise but with time passing on he has failed show that kind of authority.
