Newcastle United have clinched promotion to the Premier League for the next season, and have already started their pursuit in order to procure players to revamp their squad. The Toons are well aware of the fact that they will have to compete with some of the biggest teams including the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and the defending champions Chelsea on their way to make a mark in the Premier League next term, and will need some top class players who have played well for their teams in the recent times.
Reportedly, Newcastle United’s top management has confirmed that they have given their current manager Rafa Benitez full authority to interfere in the matters related to transfers to make a team according to his plan for the next season.
However, Rafa Benitez has been demanding a war chest of £100 million to bring in players of his choice to revamp the team, and as per reports, he has handed a budget of £70 million so far to revamp the side for the next season.
The Spanish manager has been eyeing a number of players since his team was promoted to the top flight, and one of them is Peter Ankersen from FC Copenhagen, who plays as a centre-back with the Danish Superliga club. The Magpies are looking to strengthen their backline and might make a move for Ankersen during the upcoming transfer window.
The Denmark international has been playing for FC Copenhagen for the last two seasons. Two seasons ago, he was let on loan to join there from his former club Red Bull Salzburg and very soon he became an integral part of their line-up. He made his move permanent last summer by signing a new contract for FC Copenhagen.
Ankersen has been in fine form since joining the club and has been playing a very important role for FC Copenhagen. His towering presence in the defence along with his ability to tackle opponents cleanly can come very handy for The Magpies, who are eyeing a swoop for the Danish defender in the next summer transfer market, given that FC Copenhagen will let him leave in the forthcoming season for the Premier League.
Reportedly, it has been confirmed that FC Copenhagen will allow their prized possession to leave at a releasing amount of £3 million for Newcastle United. With a speculated kitty of £70 million, it should not be much of a trouble for The Toons to bag the defender for their next season.
