While Celtic have been making merry and bulldozing past almost everything that has been thrown at them this season, their arch rivals Rangers have had to content themselves with an utterly mediocre campaign as compared to the Celts. After 35 games in the Scottish Premiership, the Gers are placed 3rd on the league table and have given very little moments to their faithful to be cheerful about this season. Meanwhile, Pedro Caixinha is yet to garner anything noteworthy as the Ibrox Stadium is echoing for ramifications in the team to make the Light Blues go toe-to-toe with Brendan Rodgers’ men.
The former Al-Gharafa boss must have already started to pencil his prospective targets for the summer transfer window and one of the latest reports to have surfaced has linked Motherwell’s attacker Louis Moult to the Glasgow-based club. Rangers haven’t found it easy to find the back of the net week in and week out and when a 37-year-old centre-forward in the shape of Kenny Miller is leading the goal scoring chart of the club with 10 goals to his name, it goes without saying that the construction of something monumental is of paramount importance to help in channelising the club forward in the right direction.
Moult has been the silver lining in the otherwise sporadic outings of the Steelmen, having scored 14 goals in 29 appearances for the club in the Scottish top flight and has thus seen his stocks rise rapidly. The 24-year-old hitman is clinical up front, is quite fast, has the technical edge in breaking defences apart and holds the ball meticulously up front. Besides, he has an exemplary work-rate and his movements are perfectly timed ones and no wonder why he has already inked his name in the good books of football fraternity.
The Teddy Bears are vouching for a long-term successor for Miller and Moult perfectly fits the bill. Having emerged through the youth ranks of Stoke City, the Englishman has garnered adequate experience on the Scottish soil. His contract, confining him to the Fir Park, expires in the summer of 2018 which implies that he might be struck off the books for a handsome transfer fee. Caixinha should be looking forward to building a core team for himself next season to ensure the results start panning in favour of his side and someone like Moult could play a pivotal role in ensuring the same.
