Rangers have been utterly mediocre in the Scottish Championship this season. With their arch rivals, Celtic, running away with domestic silverwares, the Gers have been mere spectators and have piled merely 61 points from 35 games in the Scottish top flight. One of the aspects that need to be sharpened up is their attacking frontier, for the Glasgow- based club have merely scored 51 goals in the league, and thus, here are three players which Pedro Caixinha can target to bolster his attacking arsenal.
Frazier Campbell
Crystal Palace’s hitman Frazier Campbell has been reduced to a diminished figure and so far this season, he could muster merely 143 minutes on the pitch, scoring just 1 goal in the process. The 29-year-old, however, can really thrive at Rangers owing to his technical edge, ability to time his runs and if he is afforded some space up front, he has the potential to really destroy his opponents. Campbell’s contract confining him to the Selhurst Park expires in the summer and must be looking forward to plying his trade on a regular basis, which he is seemingly likely to get with a move to the Ibrox Stadium.
Sam Gallagher
Sam Gallagher was the silver lining in Blackburn Rovers’ season in the Championship which eventually saw them getting relegated. The 21-year-old had been sent to the Ewood Park by Southampton to continue his development and with 11 goals and 1 assist to his name in 43 appearances for Rovers, it appears as if he has actually carved an upward trajectory in his career. The Saints might be tempted to sell him in the summer and with time on his side, he could go on to be one of the hottest properties on Scottish soil in times to come.
Arouna Kone
Everton’s Arouna Kone could be a handy asset for the Teddy Bears if they are looking forward to landing a poacher with experience, considering that he is no longer a wanted commodity under the tutelage of Ronald Koeman. The 33-year-old might not be the best of options for Caixinha but he still has the calibre in him to steer Rangers to the top. Tall, strong and absolutely unselfish, he is a versatile attacker and would give width to the setup of the former Al-Gharafa boss. He might have been handed merely 4 substitute appearances in the English top flight this season, but with a word of confidence from the manager of wherever he plies his trade in the upcoming season, he can certainly be a big boost to his club.
