There has been absolute dominance by Celtic on the Scottish domestic soil owing to the way they have bulldozed past their rivals with relative ease. The Bhoys have already clinched the League Cup, are due to face Aberdeen in the final of the Scottish Cup later this month and can go on to win the Scottish Premiership title without losing even one game. This Celtic side, under the tutelage of Brendan Rodgers are destined to carve their name in the books of history which shall be echoed in times to come.
One of the most intriguing aspects of the Rodgers’ regime at the Celtic Park is that he has derived the best out of what he has at his disposal. Moreover, he has laid adequate emphasis on the youngsters who have really thrived under his guidance. Patrick Roberts is a prime example of the same and there exists no doubt whatsoever that Roberts has indeed moved a step ahead in his development after his loan move to Celtic from Manchester City. In fact, the former Liverpool boss is so satisfied with the starlet that he is ready to lure him under his ranks on a permanent deal in the summer.
Signed on a loan spell of 18 months, Roberts has been a revelation, having scored 15 goals in 55 appearances for the green and white crops. The 20-year-old possesses shrewd abilities of taking on a player with sheer ease, has a perfect blend of pace, tenacity and creativity, gets into dangerous position and makes life really troublesome for opposition’s defence. His shots have the requisite power, he brings the fellow midfielders into the equation by holding the ball meticulously in the final third and is a visionary on the football pitch. Moreover, despite his tender age, he has shown immense composure and confidence and is destined to reach dizzying heights in the game in times to come.
The former Fulham man, however, isn’t blessed with a thumping physical presence and thus, aerial duels and physical battles become a tad difficult for him to cope with. At Manchester City, he is seemingly unlikely to be given much of game time, considering the plethora of stars Pep Guardiola has at his disposal. Nonetheless, he has thrived at the Glasgow-based club and with the Hoops’ apparent interest to convert his deal into a permanent one, it should benefit all the parties involved and help the youngster particularly in striving for better things in the coming seasons.
