Rangers got humiliated at the hand of Celtic after the Hoops piled on five goals against them recently. They will be looking for redemption when they face Partick Thistle in the next match. In a space of five days after outclassing Rangers in the Scottish Cup semi-final, Celtic again was on the winning side as they simply hammered the Gers in the Scottish Premiership.
But this game should be a cakewalk for Rangers as Partick Thistle last managed to defeat them 24 years ago. However, the Glasgow derby is expected to be an exciting one as Partick would be very keen to rub salts in their wounds. Pedro Caixinha could make some changes but is expected to reinstate almost the same lineup that got thrashed against Celtic.
Partick Thistle have a pretty awful record against their city rival as they have lost all their last three matches against the Gers.
Predicted 4-3-1-2 Rangers Lineup Vs Partick Thistle
Defence
Despite conceding five goals Caixinha is expected to keep faith on his regular keeper Wes Fodringham. He needs to shrug his previous performance off his mind and should start afresh.
Rangers lost the last match brutally but moreover, they almost surrendered to Celtic. They were pathetic when it came to maintaining their defensive shape. Clint Hill and Danny Wilson need to put a solid performance against Partick Thistle in a hope to rekindle their season.
Myles Beerman should start on the left side. James Tavernier is expected to light up the right flank.
Midfield
The three-man midfield formula didn’t click in the last match but Caixinha is expected to carry on with that. Jason Holt should play in the middle of the three-man midfield.
Emerson Hyndman will be on the left side of the midfield while Josh Windass will be on the right side. Collectively they will try to overpower the Partick midfield by bringing more men into the centre of the park.
Attack
Rangers hardly created any chances in the last match. Although they did score one goal they have to be much much better if they are to secure full points in this game. Kenny Miller will operate in the hole just behind the two strikers. He will try to create a link between the midfield and the attack.
Caixinha should field two strikers yet again. Martyn Waghorn will start upfront in an attempt to add some goals to his tally. Joe Doddo will be the supporting striker.
