Manchester United have been looking to end their woes with some good signings in the next season, and they are currently chasing Cesc Fabregas, the Chelsea midfielder to include him in their line-up for the next season. Reportedly, they are looking to make a bid of £30 million for the Spaniard who turned 30 this month.
Fabregas has been handed only 10 starts throughout the current season by the new Chelsea coach Antonio Conte since his arrival at Stamford Bridge during the last transfer window. He has been used mostly as a substitute and is out of favour under the Italian.
The ex-Juventus coach has been much more inclined towards playing with a 3-4-3 combination, which has made it next to impossible to make a place for the Spanish midfielder in the team. The arrival of this year’s PFA Player of the Year N’Golo Kante from current Champions Leicester City in the last summer transfer window has also been a detriment for Fabregas’ role in the first eleven on most occasions.
However, the Italian coach of the current Premier League leaders has said that he is a big fan of Fabregas’ style of play and appreciates the fact that he is with his team. He has also revealed that he respects the fact that the Spaniard is very decisive in his approach towards every game he plays.
The Spaniard made most of whatever game time he had with Chelsea and provided a number of assists to his teammates. However, this has not gone in favour of Fabregas and N’Golo Kante has been paired with Nemanja Matic in a deep holding role. Fabregas meanwhile has been used more as a resource from the bench, being in and out of the first eleven for quite a few times this season.
The other position that the Spanish could fit in well is as an attacking midfielder role, the one he has played in several times during his days with Barcelona and Arsenal. However, his compatriot Pedro has been favoured by Antonio Conte to be the one to play in the aforementioned position alongside the eccentric Eden Hazard.
Jose Mourinho was the manager of the club when Chelsea brought in Fabregas from Barcelona. Under the Portuguese tactician, the Spaniard enjoyed a great season and went on to lift the Premier League, which he could not during his stint with Chelsea’s arch rival Arsenal. Nevertheless, if the much-speculated reunion happens, it might bring good times for both Manchester United as well as Cesc Fabregas.
