The last week of the Premier League might not have produced many goals but we saw a number of exciting encounters.
Harry Kane
The Tottenham Hotspur sensation once again was on the target as Spurs maintained their perfect home record in this season as they got the better of Arsenal in a very important clash. Despite being on the sidelines for a brief period the England international has still managed to score 21 goals in the Premier League itself. His goal in the North London derby is his fifth in as many games.
After the first goal, Kane immediately earned a penalty after Gabriel tripped him inside the box. He scored his 21st goal of the season by sending Petr Cech the wrong way. Kane’s partnership with Dele Alli has been the focal point of Spurs’ season as Mauricio Pochettino has used the pair beautifully by giving them all the freedom upfront. With Chelsea are not playing until Monday they have a real chance to cut back the gap to one point and put the pressure on the Blues.
Joshua King
The Manchester United academy product sealed the last nail in Sunderland’s coffin as his 88th-minute goal ensured the Black Cats’ demotion. The Manchester United academy product seems to have had a late flurry of form as he has now scored in two consecutive matches to give Bournemouth supporters some reason to cheer. The Cherries now can play without any restraint as they are safe from relegation and the supporters should be thankful to this player. It was Sunderland who created most of the chances but failed to convert and King took his moment as he met Ryan Fraser’s cross to submerge Sunderland into deep waters.
Alvaro Negredo
A brilliant display from the Spanish striker against his former club. Boro probably played one of the best games of their season as they almost sealed a win against Manchester City but a late goal from Gabriel Jesus saved the day for the Sky Blues. Negredo was all over the pitch and alongside scoring the opener he even set up the second goal for Callum Chambers. The 31-year old is currently on loan from Valencia and is right now the top scorer for the Teesiders. Negredo was a constant threat as City defence looked very shaky throughout the match. This result could be a major boost for the remaining campaign as they will be facing Chelsea next.
