Pedro- The Spaniard ‘s goal created a massive difference in Chelsea’s attitude in the whole game. Chelsea were a threat to Everton’s defence from the beginning for sure, but it was just routine defending by the Toffees till then. In fact, Everton looked the more dangerous team for most of the first half and even to the moment just before Pedro pulled that screamer out of nowhere.
He took the ball on his weaker foot and curled a beautiful shot from outside the box. The goal changed the game totally as Everton found themselves in a sudden urgency to get back at them and Chelsea struck promptly taking advantage of their Everton’s momentary unorganised defence, capitalising on the lead. With hardly any tricky fixture remaining, Tottenham’s threat seems much smaller for the Blues now.
Dele Alli- The build-up to the last North London derby at White Hart Lane was hugely a duel of Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil and Tottenham Hotspur’s Dele Alli. Both the playmakers have been great providers and scorers in front of the goal in the past two seasons and with Spurs going ahead of their arch rivals for the first time since 1995, it was time perfect time to make a statement.
And the young English international was definitely up for the task. Spurs got the first big chance in the first half when Alli missed a clear header, which was clearly a forced error with Chamberlain’s nudge. But, it took him just moments to prove his quality as he fired the Lilywhites ahead just in the opening stages of the second half. Eriksen had blasted one against the Arsenal goalie and Alli predicted the position right to be in and score. It was a scrappy goal, nonetheless, but it paved the way for Arsenal’s downfall in the game.
Emre Can- With all Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal faltering over the weekend, Liverpool had the perfect chance to increase the lead. But given the side’s confidence, who had to visit Vicarage Road following a home defeat against Crystal Palace last week, it was a huge concern. Liverpool didn’t dominate the game against the Hornets with a scrambled display, which has been the case with the Reds often.
And it was only a moment of magic from the German midfielder that turned the game for Liverpool. He was facing backwards to the goal and the ball delivered to him was not at a suitable height. But he was able to turn the ball at the top corner of the goal with a beautiful over-cycle kick.
