Brighton & Hove Albion ended a wait of 34 years to secure their promotion to the top flight of English football last month. After their 2-1 win over Wigan Athletic on 17th April, Huddersfield Town’s 1-1 draw with Derby County ensured that they were going to get uplifted.
Scenes of unadulterated contentment erupted at the American Express Community Stadium and quite rightly so, and Chris Hughton’s outfit are not done yet as they are eyeing for the Championship silverware as well.
Now that they are sure of playing amongst the country’s elites next season, it is important that Hughton starts to assess his prospective targets for the summer transfer window to solidify his ranks.
Bringing fresh faces, which have the requisite calibre, to the club would hold paramount importance and one of the latest reports have stated that the former Norwich City manager has put Chelsea’s exciting youngster Tammy Abraham on his radar. Does the youngster have what it takes to enable Brighton to stay in the safe zone next term?
Sent on loan to Championship outfit Bristol City, Abraham has emerged as one of the finest starlets in the English second tier this campaign. The 19-year-old has been one of the primary reasons why the Robins have managed to remain aloof of the relegation fistfight at this stroke of the hour.
In 40 appearances in the Championship, Abraham has banged 23 goals and registered 3 assists to his name, being an irreplaceable poacher up front and has made an undeniably thumping impression. He has all the ingredients to excel and there are no second thoughts to this.
Abraham is fast and that makes him very hard to mark. His decision-making abilities are exemplary and his movements on and off the ball make the opposition’s defence go haywire. Despite his tender age, he has shown time and again that he can create ample amount of space for himself as well as for his teammates.
The Englishman is a calm customer up front as well and documents an excellent eye for link-up play and holds the ball well in the final third.
Despite being an attacker, he never refrains from tracking back and making defensive contributions to bail his employers out of imminent dangers and is one of the most potent youngsters on the English soil. Owing to Chelsea’s plethora of stars in the attacking arsenal, Abraham is seemingly unlikely to get much game time under his belt.
The Blues would like to check if he is ready for to face the animosity of the Premier League and thus, a loan move to Brighton might fulfil the interest of all the parties involved.
