As per recent reports, Italian club Napoli has accepted Kenneth Omeruo as a part of a structured deal which might see their Senegalese defender Kalidou Koulibaly moving out of the club to join Premier League side Chelsea.
Kenneth Omeruo is currently on loan from Chelsea and is playing with the Turkish club Alanyaspor in the Super Lig. The Nigerian youngster has been impressive in the defence for his current club and is more than a decent inclusion to the Italian side if the deal goes through.
Meanwhile, Koulibaly has accepted that he is willing to play in the Premier League, though the Senegalese has not mentioned the name of any particular club. He said that he has great admiration for the English League, but that currently, his sole focus is to play and impress with the Italian club. According to him, if there is any sort of development regarding a move to a much-coveted club in England, it can only be discussed after the end of the current season.
With their inspirational captain John Terry already announcing his departure from the team, Chelsea have been looking to rope in the 25 year old with a view to replace the ex-England skipper. In fact, Chelsea already tried to get the player from Napoli last summer in a speculated move but were turned down by the Serie A club. This time though, the Italian club seemed to have agreed to the swap deal which might see the Senegalese defender coming to Stamford Bridge this summer.
The total details of the speculated deal, as per reports, have not been disclosed, with perspectives like transfer fee and further add-ons yet to be discussed between the two clubs.
Chelsea’s Italian coach Antonio Conte has been all praises for the Senegalese international, who is a perfect fit for his recent 3-4-3 playing combination. The strength and agility of the Napoli centre back makes him an obvious inclusion into the Italian coach’s current line-up.
Koulibaly has been instrumental in the defence for Napoli throughout the season. The 25 year old has the ability to hold the ball away from the opposition strikers for a long time. He is also equipped with excellent ability to pass the ball to his teammates as well as the ability to mesmerise the opposition with his eye-widening dribbling skills.
He can play short passes with his teammates to initiate crucial attacks in the opposition half. However, the defender has a slight weakness, which is the knack to commit fouls while indulging into tackles against opponent players. But do you think he is a good option for Chelsea this summer?
