Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny has been getting offers from a number of big name clubs from all over Europe. One of them is speculated to be the Premier League rivals Manchester City, who are eyeing the French star to add to their squad during the forthcoming transfer window.
It has been a long time that the North London club has not been able to win something significant like the Premier League title or the UEFA Champions League. It is rumoured that these continuous failures have demoralised the current mainstay of Arsenal defence and he wants to leave the club at the end of this season.
Manchester City, on the other hand, have looked quite vulnerable in defence throughout the season. The present man in charge, Pep Guardiola, is under pressure with the current performance of the defensive unit and is looking to bring in players who can give solidarity to the backline in the next season.
The Citizens are looking for a major reconstruction of the team this summer, which will see a number of new players coming in, while some existing players might be shown the door. One of the names right on the top of their incoming list is Arsenal’s first choice centre back.
Laurent Koscielny has been one of the top defenders in the Premier League for a number of seasons with the Gunners. His brilliant heading and clearance of the ball has been able to hold off strikers from scoring goals against his team. He can also score from set piece situations and is considered to be an ominous threat in the opposition box. His long balls and through passes are good enough for his teammates to give them the opportunities to score goals.
In the French National team as well, Koscielny is considered to be a diligent figure. He is known for his excellent ability to keep hold of the ball for a significant amount of time and pass it purposefully and with accuracy. His interceptions have been the reason behind a number of failed attacks by the opposition players on the Arsenal goal.
Reportedly, apart from Manchester City, French club Marseille is also on the trail for the 31-year-old defender to make him a part of their team in the next season. However, Koscielny has recently signed a new long term contract with the Gunners which might see him stay back at the Emirates stadium.
