West Bromwich Albion are going through a good patch in the current Premier League season. However, it is their away form that has been the major concern throughout the campaign, with their backline not being able to avoid letting in goals.
For the new season, the Baggies manager Tony Pulis is looking to bring in some changes in order to revamp his current side. One of the names on the top of his target list for the summer transfer window is Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson. The English international has been one of the best defenders throughout the Premier League season and Pulis is hopeful that he will be able to play an important role in strengthening the composition of the West Brom defence.
However, the 24-year-old has got a hefty price tag on himself, which is making most of the clubs give up the chase to bag this influential defender for the next season. Reportedly, the man from Middlesbrough has got a price tag of £30 million on him.
Reportedly, apart from West Brom, current Premier League champions Leicester City have also been keeping a close eye on the defender but the Foxes are also avoiding making him a part of their line-up in the next season owing to the heavy price tag Gibson is slapped with this summer.
Though Gibson’s current club is in no mood to let go of their prized possession for anything lesser than his vaue, West Bromwich Albion is looking to open negotiations to make the English defender a part of their line–up in the coming season for a lesser price.
Ben Gibson has been in great form of late and has also made it to the England national team recently. Current England manager Gareth Southgate is a big fan of the youngster and believes that he has a great future ahead of him.
Gibson has a strong presence at the heart of the Boro defence. The Englishman has the ability to clear balls from the danger zone and play key passes into the other half for his teammates to pick up the ball and score goals. His strong ariel ability makes him dangerous from corners and free kicks. He also has the ability to make a clean tackle whenever the situation demands so.
The current season has not been good for Middlesbrough, and they are currently looking at relegation. If the dreaded situation comes to fore, it will become difficult to contain Gibson to the Riverside Stadium for the next season.
