Chelsea will face a tricky test at Goodison Park as they take on Everton on Sunday. The Blues are sitting at the top of the table and will try to launch a scathing attack to tighten their grip on the Premier League title. Their loss against Manchester United had certainly delayed their celebration which could be virtually sealed after this match. But it won’t be a walk in the park as Everton are unbeaten at the Goodison Park since their Merseyside derby defeat to Liverpool in December.
A win will take them seven points clear over Tottenham Hotspur who will be facing Arsenal in a North London derby later that day. Antonio Conte’s team thrashed Southampton 4-2 in the last match and will take this match as any other game. The way Conte’s side has been playing things are not looking tough for them but the fact that Everton have won their last five home games against Chelsea and Ronald Koeman’s men would definitely fancy their chances.
Predicted 3-4-2-1 Chelsea Lineup Against Everton
Defence
Chelsea’s defence has been vulnerable at times of late and Thibaut Courtois had sometimes faced awkward situations in the goal. Everton will be pressing hard while attacking and Courtois needs to be in top shape to avoid any slip ups.
The three-man defence formula inherited by Conte has been very popular and a number of other coaches are also using this. David Luiz and Gary Cahill had some torrid night and are responsible for leaking some goals but the kind of influence they have put into this side is unbelievable. Cesar Azpilicueta is the most underrated among these three players and does his duty with avid keenness.
Midfield
Nemanja Matic has been doing what he does well and against a fast pace side like the Toffees, Matic needs to move faster.
Kante needs to sit deep and interlink the midfield with the attack. His break up play has been a rage in this season.
A regular in the left wingback position Alonso, as usual, will take his place.
Victor Moses sometimes almost plays like a right back and he is one of the most hardworking players whose work rate is immense.
Attack
Conte knows very well they have to exploit Everton’s defence with the skill of Hazard and the pace of Pedro. Hazard remains the most valuable player in this Chelsea ranks and as time goes he is becoming the no-nonsense player for the Blues.
Pedro’s growth in this season is immensely praiseworthy and the energetic winger will try to take on the fullbacks of the Toffees.
Diego Costa will try to continue his new found form.
