Celtic have chiselled a complete domestic supremacy as they have incessantly bulldozed past whatever they have had to deal with on the Scottish soil. Under the tutelage of Brendan Rodgers, the Celts have added strength to strength and have constructed a side capable enough to win even a domestic treble in the ongoing season, having already clinched the Scottish Premiership (mind you, they are yet to be defeated!) and League Cup and have registered themselves as the finalist for the Scottish Cup.
However, Rodgers has his sights on erecting a monumental footing in the Champions League as well. An analogy between the Glasgow giants and other European powerhouses would enable us to derive that the former need big names in their ranks to not only bolster their squad but to also lend them the experience of such a lucrative tournament. The summer transfer window would be crucial for the former Liverpool boss to bring eulogised players under his command and one of the players he could possibly target is West Bromwich Albion’s Darren Fletcher, whose contract expires in the summer.
A product of Manchester United’s youth setup, Fletcher was promoted to the senior side of the Red Devils and it was during his tenure at Old Trafford where he won a handful of accolades, including a Champions League winner’s medal. Having signed by the Baggies in the winter of 2015, the 33-year-old has been a fine servant of the club and has played an instrumental role in the resurgence of West Bromwich Albion. Despite being arguably an archaic brand of player, he is still deemed as one of the most fruitful outcomes of the Premier League. He is a skilled customer, has truckloads of experience on his tray, a shrewd passer of the ball and is undoubtedly one of the best readers of the game.
So far this campaign, Fletcher has been handed 33 appearances by Tony Pulis, whilst which he has garnered 2 goals, 2 assists and 0.6 key passes, 1.1 tackles, 1.2 interceptions, 0.9 clearances and 0.1 blocks every game on an average and is seemingly likely to be an instant hit at Celtic, if he is lured to the Celtic Park that is. Apart from being a versatile midfielder who is predominantly slotted in the central defensive midfield, the Scottish international runs his socks off every time he is on the pitch and could be the role model for the youngsters Celtic have at their disposal.
Oh! And did I forget to tell you that he is a Celtic fan since his boyhood?
