After getting promoted to the Scottish Premiership, Rangers haven’t really fired to a galvanising standard in the ongoing campaign. Currently placed 3rd on the league table with 58 points after 33 league outings, the Gers have failed to provide any sort of a substantial competition to their arch rivals, Celtic, and unarguably, they have miles to run before they can really catch the Celts in terms of quality or performance levels in the upcoming seasons.
One of the key areas of concern for the Glasgow giants has been the apparent lack of flamboyance in their attacking arsenal. Rangers have, many times, found it hard to bury their chances up front and this sort of lacklustre offering has troubled them. Pedro Caixinha’s young reign at the Ibrox Stadium needs to be backed adequately by the board and the upcoming summer transfer window is where the Light Blues need to splash the cash to construct a fearsome side once again.
Motherwell’s sensational hitman in the shape of Louis Moult should definitely be finding a place in the wish-list of the former Al Gharafa boss. The former Stoke City man has been in an exemplary form on the domestic soil so far this campaign, having banged 16 goals in 29 games across all competitions for the Steelmen and has emerged as one of the hottest properties of the Scottish top division. He has stirred a tinge of offensive flair into the attacking setup of Motherwell and no wonder he is attracting a lot of attention from the football fraternity.
One would not refrain from nodding to the perception that Caixinha really needs a quality striker to steer his side forward in times to come. Kenny Miller, who is a 37-year-old now, is the only player to have hit the double figures in terms of goals tally for the Teddy Bears and it is high time for them to start vouching for a long-term successor for the former Scottish international. Interestingly, Moult is seemingly likely to fit the bill for the Gers.
A strong striker who is absolutely clinical up front, the 24-year-old works meticulously in the final third and is a poacher inside the box. He is fast and holds the ball well to let the midfielders get into the scheme of things to destroy the opponents’ defence. Besides, he also possesses adequate experience and it would thoroughly make sense if Rangers strive to attain his signature in the summer.
