Chelsea have been going through one of their best seasons in recent times and are looking to continue their good run in the next season as well. For that, Antonio Conte is looking to bring in some star players from various leagues around the world who have been performing well for the last few seasons. Kalidou Koulibaly is one of these players who is being pursued by a number of big clubs from all over the world.
With their inspirational captain John Terry already announcing his departure from the team, Chelsea have been looking to rope in the 25-year-old with a view to replace the ex-England skipper. In fact, Chelsea already tried to get the player from Napoli last summer but were turned down by the Serie A outfit. The Italian club has put a price tag on their prized possession, which amounts to a whopping £60 million which means that the London club will have to break the bank if this summer transfer has to go through.
Chelsea’s Italian coach Antonio Conte has been all praises for the Senegalese international, who perfectly fits into his recent, productive 3-4-3 playing combination. However, any probable move, as per reports, is subject to the agreement of the defender, which can happen only once the current Serie A season is over.
Koulibaly has been instrumental in the defence for Napoli throughout the season. He has the ability to control the ball for a significant amount of time and is also equipped with excellent passing as well as the ability to bamboozle the opposition with his eye-widening dribbling skills.
Koulibaly can also play short passes with his teammates to initiate attacks in the opposition half. However, the defender has a frustrating knack of committing fouls while indulging into tackles against opponent players. The Italian club has said recently that they might let the 25-year-old leave at the end of the season, subject to the player’s agreement to the proposal.
Chelsea had reportedly offered Napoli £58 million to secure the services of Koulibaly when they went in pursuit of the defender during last year’s summer transfer window. Koulibaly has been an integral part of the Napoli defensive system since his arrival in 2014 from Genk. He has played 75 matches for the Italian side and has established himself as one of the best defenders in the current scenario.
