The ongoing Sky Bet Championship season has turned into another campaign of helplessness and mediocrity for Wolverhampton Wanderers. Currently placed 15th in the league table with 55 points from 43 league outings, the Wolves are undoubtedly miles behind as far as their construction activities of moulding themselves into a side capable enough to maraud for a promotion to the Premier League is concerned.
It is high time for them to take the requisite measures to get back to the top flight. Paul Lambert is familiar to the perception that his side needs to come back stronger next season and how the Championship club utilizes the summer transfer window shall have a huge say in dictating their whereabouts in times to come.
Wolves have been quite shaky at the back and it is arguably a sector which should be looked at before the next campaign sets off. It was recently reported that Lambert is looking for Greenock Morton’s defender, Thomas O’Ware. But, can he be the man who is worthy of a move to the Molineux Stadium?
O’Ware started his youth career with Rangers, before moving to Kilmarnock and Bonnyton Thistle. He was acquired by the Ton in 2011 and has cemented his stature with them ever since. At this point of time, the Scot is one of the hottest properties available with the Morton side and is a genuine leader on the pitch.
He has garnered adequate recognition from the football fraternity for being a fine reader of the game who barely puts a foot wrong and has the versatility of playing at the central defensive slot as well as a left-back. He is really blossoming to his utmost potential now and it is good seeing him taking marauding steps.
The 24-year-old reacts to the situation in a shrewd manner, destroys the offensive endeavours of the opponents and gets into the tight situations without making a fuss. Moreover, he is comfortable in the midfield as well and has a keen knack to score crucial goals, having netted 6 times in the Scottish Championship so far this campaign.
Kortney House has been a good player for Lambert this season on the left-back position, having carved an excellent partnership with Danny Bathe, but considering that he is just 21, he still needs to develop. Signing a relatively experienced O’Ware would make perfect sense for Wolves, for they need someone to perform on a consistent basis in the long run next season.
