Former English defender John Terry recently revealed that he will end his time at the Stamford Bridge at the end of the season. He is out of a contract this summer and has decided to move on after failing to get into the first team under new manager Antonio Conte this season. He is however, not going to quit the game and is up for grabs this summer. A number of MLS clubs and a few Chinese outfits are interested in his signature while a couple of English clubs are also scouting him. At 36, he is the most experienced defender in England at the moment and is demanding a weekly wage of £80,000. So where will Terry play next season? Here are three possible destinations for the Chelsea man this summer:
Swansea City
The Swans are currently in the drop zone, two points from safety, with five games to play this season. They are not in great form but have a decent chance to avoid relegation. Paul Clement, the manager is already planning for life next season and wants Terry in his squad. The 36-year old can still play a full Premier League season and can help the Swans improve on their defensive record, which stands as the worse in the top flight at the moment. His wages could be a problem, but if Swansea manage to stay up, it would be a decent place for Terry next season.
West Bromwich Albion
The current frontrunners for Terry’s signature are the Baggies. Tony Pulis may not have Gareth McAuely lead the defensive line for his side next season and is sure to search for some experience in the transfer market to replace him. And who better than John Terry? It is reported that West Brom are ready to meet his wage demands and if the Baggies are able to lure John Terry to their club this summer, they may even be able to take the next step and fight for European qualification in the upcoming campaign.
West Ham United
The Olympic stadium is another destination that can give the Chelsea man some regular game time. The likes of James Collins, Winston Reid, Angelo Ogbonna and Jose Fonte are all decent defenders but Slaven Bilic, or his successor, will need solidity at the back to compete for Europe next season and Terry could be a perfect option for them. The English defender started his youth career with the Hammers so it will be a decent option for him, as it will give him a chance to stay put in the capital city even after quitting the Stamford Bridge.
Though a few clubs outside England are also interested, Terry might prefer to stay in his home country and end his career here.
