John Terry’s recent announcement of leaving Chelsea this summer had a tremendous impact on the football world. There have been rumours that the ex-England skipper might move to the MLS like many other of his former teammates such as Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard. However, no MLS teams have opened their mouths about their interest in acquiring the service of John Terry as of yet.
Having been heavily underplayed throughout this season, Terry had an idea about his future at Stamford Bridge, which was looking gloomy under the reign of the Italian manager Antonio Conte. Now that he has declared the current one as his last season with the league leaders, another Premier League team, West Bromwich Albion have shown their interest in having him for the next season.
Reportedly, West Bromwich Albion had talks with Terry to secure his services during the last transfer window. But the defender not being interested in a move away from Stamford Bridge at that time, Tony Pulis, the man in charge at the Hawthorns had to curb his desire to get John Terry in his team. Now that the centre-back has come out with his announcement to move away from the London club, Pulis has got his intentions to get hold of him reignited.
There are strong speculations that West Bromwich Albion defender Jonny Evans might leave the club this summer, having offers from some of the biggest clubs in the Premier League. Evans has been in good form of late, defending his team’s goal to the best of his ability. Tony Pulis is evidently under pressure due to the fact of Jonny Evans might probably leave, and as per him, it is the perfect time to bring a suitable replacement for them.
Currently the focus of the MLS teams has been on signing young footballers rather than old veterans like Terry. Reportedly, the salary demanded by the ex-Chelsea defender will give him the same position as that of an attacking player, known as a Designated player.
Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe has also considered Terry for a potential move after this season. The Cherries have already conceded 63 goals in the Premier League this season, only lesser to Swansea City and Hull City. In order to strengthen the backline, Howe is looking towards the availability of John Terry in the next transfer window.
