The Champions of England, Leicester City, have finally managed to get themselves away from the dreaded drop zone as they now stand nine points away from Swansea City in the 18th place in the points table. Craig Shakespeare has done a decent job with the squad in hand and he might remain at the job for another year.
So, he has already started to look for players who can improve the squad next season and one player that is now linked with a move to the King Power is Anderlecht star Kara Mbodji. For all of you who are no familiar with the name, here is a peek into his scout report:
Born and brought up in Ndiass, Senegal, Mbodji started his youth career in his country before moving on to a Norwegian club Tromso at the age of 21.
He spent two successful years at the club before moving to Belgium with Genk. He made 90 league appearances for Genk and was finally captured by Anderlecht, one of the biggest clubs in the domestic league in Belgium.
He is a mainstay in Brussels this season and has three goals and four assists in 30 games in all competitions. He has also made more than 30 appearances for the Senegalese national side and is an experienced option for Leicester City.
A versatile central defender, who can also play comfortably in the midfield, Kara is an exciting player who has some pace to burn. He is hardly beaten by runners and is a defender who knows how to use the physical approach in its limits.
A beast of a defender, who has the ability to win everything in the air, Kara is not a ball playing defender and falls into a ‘no-nonsense’ category. He loves to dominate his box and frustrate opponents and is a defender not many strikers will like to face.
He has a simple approach, to keep his goal clean, and this could be of great help for the Foxes.
Wes Morgan, the skipper of Leicester City and Robert Huth, have both done extremely well this season making more than 40 appearances each in all competitions.
Both players are close to their final years of service to the sport but might act as the first-choice next season as well. Yohan Benalouane has been the only backup for the first team stars at the club and Leicester do need some depth in this position. Kara Mbodji can be more than a decent option.
At just 27, Kara is in the prime of his career and is tailor-made for the Premier League. Leicester have some established defenders so the Senegalese might find it hard to break into the first team initially but at his age, he can easily take his time next season before becoming the first choice for years to come.
He is surely going to make Leicester City’s defence stronger, but do you think Kar Mbodji is the right man for the Foxes next season?
