Currently, arch rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are going in together in pursuit of the young prodigy.

However, Arsenal are currently considered to be the frontrunner in the race for Leon Goretzka. With the possibility of mercurial playmaker Mesut Ozil leaving the Emirates Stadium this summer, Arsene Wenger has already been looking for someone who can provide stability and pace to the midfield. Leon Goretzka can be the perfect solution for the Frenchman’s woes regarding the composition of the team next season.
Arsenal, reportedly, is also looking to rope in Goretzka’s compatriot and teammate Max Meyer for the next season. Both the Germans are believed to have a good understanding with each other and the London team will look to capitalise on that chemistry to give them immediate results.
Schalke, meanwhile have put a price tag of £25million on the German youngster in case he leaves the club this summer. Leon Goretzka has exceptional ability to hold on to the ball for a long time during matches. He plays a crucial role with his defensive contribution to the team, intercepting in the middle of passes played between the players of opponent teams.
He is a strong player, acting as a defensive shield in front of the back four with an ability to tackle cleanly and snatch away the ball from the opponents. His concentration being tremendous, the only thing he needs to work upon is his crossing of long balls to form an attack near the rival goal.
Leon Goretzka has less than a year and a half left on his contract with Schalke and reportedly has no intention to extend it.
