Tottenham Hotspur got within a touching distance of league leaders Chelsea prior to the day the London side face the unpredictable Manchester United. The Lilywhites rode on the back of some grand displays from the likes of Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen and Moussa Dembele as they thrashed Bournemouth 4-0 at White Hart Lane.
Tottenham are now four points adrift of Chelsea with six games in hand and with Chelsea still having to face the likes of Everton and United in their remaining fixtures, the title race is quite surely on.
Here are how the Spurs players fared against the Cherries-
Hugo Lloris (8/10)- As has often been the case with Tottenham’s goalie this season, the Frenchman was hardly tested. Today was nothing different as Bournemouth’s first real attempt came as late as the 74th minute and he was on to it quite calmly.
Kyle Walker (7.5/10) – He has taken over the mantle of Premier League’s best right-back from Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin this season. There was hardly anything to defend and he was rampaging the Cherries back line.
Toby Alderweireld (8/10) – Yet another composed display from the Belgian at the back. He made sure Bournemouth’s danger man, Joshua King, didn’t make any noise throughout the game. Was also involved in Spurs’ first goal.
Jan Vertonghen (7.5/10) – Tottenham’s defence was really enjoying a vacation today and the experienced centre-half made things easier for his team. Partnering Alderweireld in the best way possible, Vertonghen once again proved what he is capable of.
Ben Davies (7/10) – Definitely one of his easier games today, but Bournemouth forwards still managed to outfox him occasionally. Given that he is the best option Pochettino has after Danny Rose at the moment, Davies will have to pull his socks up fast.
Eric Dier (8/10) – Another gem of a performance by the English midfielder. He was disciplined and hardly put a step wrong the whole game.
Mousa Dembele (8/10) – Notched his first goal of the season today, which obviously should have come long before this. The Belgian has been one of their best players this season and his ability to pull the ball out of pressure situations is unparalleled.
Christian Eriksen (8.5/10) – He has been in iron-hot form this season in the league and Bournemouth’s little resistance made things easier for him.
Dele Alli (8.5/10) – Another star for the side who was absolutely untouchable by Bournemouth defenders. His ability to find passes looked too superior for the Cherries pack
Son Heung-Min (9/10) – While many claim that Harry Kane is Tottenham’s hero, it is actually this guy. One of the most underrated forwards in the league, Tottenham wouldn’t be where they are now without him. Having him in the absence of Kane seems unimaginable sometimes.
Harry Kane (8/10)– A great relief for Spurs as they have got back their star striker in full form. Did what he does best.
