Gabriel Barbosa could leave Inter Milan this summer if we are to consider his agent’s latest remarks. The Brazilian has been struggling to find his feet at the San Siro since Inter paid almost £26 m for his services. A managerial change couldn’t change his fortunes as he is yet to make his first Serie A start since his arrival.
His agent recently accused the Nerazzurri of leading his client to a state of psychological humiliation. There will be no dearth of interest from clubs as Gabigol, what he is fondly called, is regarded as one of the hottest young prospects right now. A number of clubs with the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City have been linked with a move for the youngster.
Gabigol,20, is reportedly frustrated with his situation and wants a move as soon as the transfer window opens. While Inter are interested in a loan move, he wants to secure a permanent move to a club where he would be able to carry on with his progress.
Jurgen Klopp’s team is currently lacking a typical goal poacher in front of the goal although they have Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi. But Klopp has opted to go without a notable number nine as he has been deploying Roberto Firmino as the false nine. The formula has been a hit as Liverpool have maintained their position in the top four without a proper striker.
Going by the current situation, the Reds are well on their way to finishing in the Champions League positions and Klopp has to buy a striker if he wants to do well in Europe. Liverpool have been heavily dependent on Sadio Mane, Coutinho and Firmino for goals but they cannot ignore the need of a conventional front man.
Despite his lack of playing time, Barbosa has shown his potential in national colours. The 20-year-old has struck two times in four games and it seems he, alongside Gabriel Jesus, are the future torchbearers of Brazilian football. He is often compared to Luis Suarez for his playing style. The striker has a record goal haul while playing for the Santos youth side. A superb finisher of the ball, Gabriel also possesses superb ball control ability which makes him one of the most sought after players in the world.
Klopp would feel the urgency of bolstering his attacking department and Gabigol could be an option. A bid in the range of £25 million should be enough to tempt Inter into selling the player.
