Swansea City have no other option but to win when they travel to Vicarage Road to face Watford. Paul Clement’s side are winless in their last five matches and they are being dragged into the relegation zone. Needless to say, they have the necessary firepower in their ranks but haven’t been able to use it properly so far.
Clement had a stellar start to his Premier League campaign as he inspired the Swans to a temporary redemption. But form started to fall down for the Wales based side as they have picked only one point from the last five matches. The match against Watford is going to be a stern test for Clement’s side as it will decide the future course of the path for them.
Predicted 4-5-1 Swansea City Lineup Against Watford
Defence
Lukasz Fabianski is in line to make his 33rd appearance in the Premier League. The 31-year-old has often been very sloppy and has conceded some silly goals. He cannot afford to repeat those mistakes in the match against Watford.
Swansea’s chances of survival are dependent on how their defence would perform in the remaining matches. They have so far leaked 67 goals in the Premier League which is the highest in terms of conceding this season.
The pair of Alfie Mawson and Federico Fernandez have to make sure that the attackers of the Hornets don’t have much space in the attacking third.
Martin Olsson has scored a couple of goals in the Premier League since his transfer from Norwich City and will try to emulate the same form.
Kyle Naughton will try to chase down the flanks to build attacks from the right side.
Midfield
Clement will prefer a five-man midfield to distribute the play across the whole pitch. Leroy Fer will take the central most position in the midfield. He has been the driving force in the midfield and will try to control things from deep.
Jack Cork is nursing an injury but is expected to make it to the starting lineup. He and Tom Carroll will be the two central midfielders who will try to help the attackers by feeding them with more balls.
Attack
Gylfi Sigurdsson has displayed the sole creativity among the Swansea players this term. He will operate from the left wing and will try to inflict damage on the Watford ranks.
Wayne Routledge has been very inconsistent but has to take this opportunity to play a supporting role in this match.
Fernando Llorente is fit to go and is set to start his first match after recovering from injury.
