It has been nothing short of a season of complete disarray for Arsenal, right from being sporadic in the Premier League to crashing out of the Champions League in the most humiliating manner. Arsene Wenger has clearly been dividing opinions amongst the club’s faithful and the separation has failed to be bridged owing to his side’s abject performances.
In the Gunners’ last weekend, Crystal Palace literally persecuted and paralysed Wenger’s troops at Selhurst Park, when the Eagles picked up a monumental 3-0 win. Top four finish is apparently far from the grasp of the North London club at this stroke of the hour and the side really needs to buck up to a considerable extent by drawing fresh faces in the summer transfer window.
One of the latest reports have underlined that Arsenal are aiming to lure Celtic’s Kieran Tierney and Moussa Dembele to the Emirates Stadium. The Bhoys have been in impeccable form on the domestic soil and are still unbeaten in the Scottish Premiership. In a season which has been emphatic for Celtic, Tierney and Dembele have really blossomed and Arsenal’s interest to sign them makes perfect sense.
Tierney has emerged as one of the hottest properties which Scottish football has on offer. The 19-year-old has replaced the club’s veteran left-back in the form of Emilio Izaguirre for the starting spot under the tactical nous of Brendan Rodgers and has shown time and again that he is destined to play for a European powerhouse very soon. He is a modern day full-back who loves to maraud forward, stretch the defence of the opponents and cater to the defensive duties meticulously.
Dembele, on the other hand, has been a regular goal-getter for the green and white. The French starlet has banged in 17 goals in the Scottish top flight and 3 goals in the Champions League and has drawn widespread attention from the football fraternity. Tall, strong and a clinical finisher who has pace to burn, he is the perfect striker up front who could demolish the most resolute of defences.
The scenario looks pretty gloomy at Arsenal, for Nacho Monreal has been a shadow of his former self in the left-back slot and there exists a clear dearth of a poacher with predate instincts in the attacking front for Arsenal. In a situation like this, Tierney and Dembele would really fit the bill owing to the fact that they do have the quality and would only get better with the passage of time.
