Tottenham Hotspur will look to continue their pressure on league leaders Chelsea, when they welcome surprise performers, Bournemouth this Saturday. The Cherries shouldn’t be a huge problem for the Lilywhites given their rampaging home run and we expect a routine win for Pochettino’s men.
Defence
Hugo Lloris will once take his position under the bar. The Frenchman has finally found his breakthrough season this year since arriving from Lyon in 2012. He has conceded 20 goals in 27 outings so far contributing significantly to Spurs’ magnificent season.
Ben Davies is expected to start as the left-back as Danny Rose continues to recover from his injury. After a nervy few displays, the young Wales international looks much composed now in that role. The other flank should be taken by Kyle Walker. The England international was benched last week in Spurs’ win over Watford and is expected to start this time.
The central defensive pairing will feature the ever-reliable Belgian duo of Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld. Spurs are on a six-match winning streak and the experienced duo is hugely responsible for it.
Midfield
Mauricio Pochettino will continue to miss the aggressive Victor Wanyama in his midfield with a back injury. The Kenyan international has been one of their best players in breaking down opponent’s attacks.
Eric Dier will take his natural place in the defensive midfield. The 23-year-old international bagged a goal in Spurs’ last game and looks confident. His equal ease playing both as a centre-half and a defensive midfielder is commendable and Pochettino rates him highly.
Dier will be partnered by the silky feet, Mousa Dembele. The Belgian has earned high praises from the boss of late for his consistent displays in Tottenham’s midfield. His ability to bring the team out of tight situations is unbelievable.
Attack
Dele Alli takes his position as the number 10. Despite starting the campaign slowly owing to injuries, the 21-year-old wasted no time to make his mark. He has netted 16 goals already and provided six assists in 30 appearances, establishing himself as one of the team’s most important players.
The flanks will be taken by Christian Eriksen and Heung Min-Son. Between the duo, there are a whopping 30 goals and 11 assists. They are the engine to Tottenham’s goals.
Harry Kane will lead the attack after returning from his injury. The English star made a bench appearance last game replacing Vincent Janssen, and Pochettino will want him to get going as fast as possible before the FA Cup clash with Chelsea.
