Real Madrid were dealt a huge blow earlier in the week when their top transfer target Antoine Griezmann spoke about his potential move to the Bernabeu. Playing for Atletico Madrid, a club in the same city, Griezmann revealed that a move to Real Madrid is not feasible for a player playing at the Vicente Calderon and that he is not thinking about playing at the Bernabeu.
But the French international has been in terrific form in Spain and in Europe and Real Madrid might not leave him easily.
Zinedine Zidane is desperate for some attacking additions to the squad and is looking at the likes of Eden Hazard and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to add to his squad in the summer but he also has an eye on Griezmann at the Calderon.
French star Karim Benzema has not been as productive in recent times and has been linked with an exit as Zidane looks to replace him with a big name and it is no surprise that Griezmann is at the top of that wish-list. Though he may not make the move, what will he add to Real Madrid if they are able to pull it off?
With 23 goals and nine assists in all competitions this season for his side, Griezmann is right up there with the best in the business and will only get better playing around star players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale on either side.
A strong finisher with exceptional dribbling abilities, Griezmann is a number -9 in the true sense of the position. Capable of holding up the ball for his teammates, the 26-year old is capable of dribbling his way through opponents but is equally adept at creating chances for his side.
Playing under Zidane, the front three of Griezmann, CR7 and Bale is one of the most productive in Europe and can take Real Madrid to the next level. Benzema is a decent goal scorer but Griezmann adds a bit of versatility and another angle to their attack and this can help the Spanish giants get the better of the best teams in Europe.
He can also play on the wings if needed, where he can cut inside and create havoc and this might be another thing that is attracting Zidane. Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo is now 32 and will stay at the club for a couple of seasons. But Real Madrid need a star replacement and Griezmann is as good as they come.
His pace and ability with the ball will help Real Madrid in their counter attacks while Griezmann has also learnt to be patient to break defences down in tough games. Surely, he is a player who will take no time to adjust to the conditions at the Bernabeu.
Though he might create a hostile atmosphere in the city, Griezmann can break a number of goal scoring records if he finds his current form playing at the Bernabeu.
However, Atletico Madrid are ready to offer him a bumper deal to ward off interests from all clubs before the end of the season. Do you think Real Madrid can land Antoine Griezmann in the future?
