One of the main reasons for Celtic’s domination on domestic soil this season could be traced to the manner in which their offensive players have created a nightmarish impression on their opponents’ defence week in and week out.
In their invincible run of 32 league games so far, Brendan Rodgers’ men have scored as many as 85 goals and have really been simply exemplary to watch.
One of their main men up front has unarguably been Moussa Dembele. The young Frenchman has scored 17 goals in 28 appearances in the Scottish Premiership this season and has been subject to a lot of speculations for a prospective move to a European heavyweight in the summer.
Rodgers would be taking precautionary measures for the worst case scenario and the need to have someone with a high calibre finishing techniques like Nahki Wells might fit the bill.
Wells is enjoying a fruitful season with Huddersfield Town in the Championship, with 10 goals and 2 assists to his name already. The Terries are having a firm grasp on the playoff spots and have been a high-performing side under the tutelage of David Wagner and Wells has been one of their standout performers.
The Bhoys shall have Champions League on offer and considering the fact that the playoffs are a kind of lottery, should the Terries slip right in the end, Wells might be even more tempted to leave John Smith’s Stadium.
The 26-year-old has carved a fine reputation for himself for being an attacker with sheer predatory instincts up front. Wells is a reasonable player to have in the armoury of any top quality side and is capable of being a replacement of a sensational striker like Dembele at the Celtic Park.
He might not be having a daunting figure but he fulfils the expectations shouldered on him by playing his game on the ground and the qualities he possesses do help him.
The Bermuda international thrives on his sharp reading of the game, makes perfectly timed runs, has quick feet and gets into the groove pretty well. Although he might not have the best of skills but his work ethic and relentless toil up front makes him a delightful package to have to cater to the striking needs of the club.
The Celts need to continue their momentum next season as well and should Dembele decide to quit in the summer, Wells could be an investment worth making by them.
