The Best & Worst Manchester United Players Rated In Their Comfortable Win Vs Sunderland

Sunderland have some deep problems under David Moyes with relegation looking inevitable but Manchester United are having problems of their own. Frustrating draws, relegation and the chance for a top four finish, these were the things in the spotlight as Stadium of Light hosted Jose’s Reds. The hosts lacked intent and the visitors capitalised. A precise finish from Zlatan had the power to beat Pickford and two clinical goals were slotted in by Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Marcus Rashford later in the second half.

The Best & Worst Manchester United Players Rated In Their Comfortable Win Vs Sunderland

1) GK: Sergio Romero – 7/10

Had to make himself big and deny Anichebe in the first half and that was impressive. He was hardly troubled later on. This is Romero’s 9th clean-sheet in a dozen games.

2) RB: Matteo Darmian – 6/10

A rare start for the Italian and he looked tidy at the back but added no supplements to the attack.

3) CB: Eric Bailly – 7/10

Very supple, strong and composed. He’s proving his worth and has been undoubtedly United’s best centre-back so far. A rock-solid performance again!

4) CB: Marcos Rojo – 7/10

Had to deal with Defoe’s wit but he had a comfortable afternoon as well and he’s formed a good partnership with Bailly.

5) LB: Luke Shaw – 7.5/10

He was an asset going forward and contributed to the attack, hardly put a foot wrong except for getting booked and he notched an assist for Mkhitariyan’s goal. He was subbed off early but he made the desired impact.

6) CM: Ander Herrera – 6/10

Had a decent game. He kept the flow ticking, got an assist for Zlatan’s opener and helped out his defence whenever needed.

7) CM: Marouane Fellaini – 6/10

Maintained discipline and stuck to basics in the midfield. He was the captain for the day and it must have been a proud moment.

8) CM: Paul Pogba – 4/10

Drifted off from the game and wasted a great chance to score in the second half. Underwhelming again.

9) RF: Jesse Lingard – 5/10

Moved around well and work-rate was fine as usual. Nothing extraordinary.

10) LF: Henrikh Mkhitaryan – 6.5/10

Would have earned back Mourinho’s trust with a good display. His second half was much improved and he finished the chance he got. Clinical!

11) ST: Zlatan Ibrahimovic – 8.5/10

He’s world class. A precise shot made the difference as he opened up the scoring, his hold up play was good and he assisted Rashford for the third.
