Ronald Koeman’s Everton managed to pick a point from their trip to the Old Trafford earlier this week. They could have easily taken all three points from the game but Ronald Koeman will hope that his side can put that draw out of their system and get ready for their clash against the Foxes this weekend.
Leicester City have continued their merry way, beating Sunderland in the previous game. They have shown a great turn in fortunes since the sacking of Ranieri and are sure to put up a fight at the Goodison Park this weekend. The Blues have a decent chance to put pressure on United for a place in Europe but they will find it tough in this game to take anything more than a point.
There are some intriguing matchups on the night to look forward to and here are three such battles that can decide the outcome of this game:
Romelu Lukaku vs Robert Huth:
The Belgian striker has been in tremendous form this season, scoring 21 goals in the league and standing as the top goal scorer so far, this season. There are not many defenders who did well against Lukaku and it is Huth’s turn to check what he can do.
Lukaku has bullied defenders this season on his way to scoring goals but Huth is a player who will not give him that chance, making him work harder for goals. So, this is a battle that is sure to engage the viewers all night long.
Jamie Vardy vs Ashley Williams:
The English striker has been in terrific form of late and is currently one of the most in-form attackers in the domestic league. He was on target yet again against Sunderland and is going to be the biggest threat for the Toffees this weekend. Vardy looks back to his previous best and if he can show up, he can make merry at the Goodison Park.
Ashley Williams showed a great weakness in speed in the last two games and Vardy is sure to test him on that front. The former Swansea defender will have his work cut out and should be at his best for Everton to take anything from this game.
Idrissa Gueye vs Wilfried Ndidi:
In a game like this, it is hard to ignore the midfield battle that can decide the game. Gueye has been in exceptional form this season, making more tackles than any other player in the Premier League. However, he will be up against a player who is slowly getting into the groove at the King Power.
Ndidi is Leicester’s replacement for N Golo Kante who left for Chelsea, and though he still has a long way to go, he has shown great improvement under Craig Shakespeare and is surely going to give Gueye a run for his money. A battle between these two midfield engines is alone worth this game.
