Tottenham Hotspur fans must be still enjoying their hard-fought win over Swansea City. No one would have imagined that Spurs could come out with a 3-1 win over Swansea with only five minutes on the clock. In a span of six minutes, they scored three goals to stun the home crowd at the Liberty Stadium.
With the season entering its final stages, Spurs can use this momentum to keep the pace going in the remaining matches. Chelsea’s win against Manchester City gave the Blues an upper hand but the title race is still wide open. Any casualties in the upcoming games would place the bet in the favour of either team.
Pochettino has turned Spurs into a lethal attacking side and the form they have been in would certainly worry Walter Mazzarri’s side. Watford have not been able to penetrate the opposition defence quite regularly this season.
Spurs were stuttering in the last match against Swansea and had to wait until the 88th minute to break the deadlock. But this doesn’t happen regularly and with a side like Watford, Spurs have enough qualitiy in their ranks to get past Walter Mazzarri’s side.
Dele Alli
The stand out player so far for Spurs. Carrying his last season’s form, Alli has been the difference between Spurs and the other teams. His flair and pace in the attacking third have created immense problems for the opponent defence this term. His resurgence compelled Gareth Southgate to include him in the England squad. At this tender age of just 20, Alli has already hogged the limelight.
Alli was again in the thick of the action as he scored the equaliser against Swansea City and Pochettino’s side eventually went on to salvage three points. Alli’s knack of scoring from distance has made him more vulnerable to the opponents. He attracts the defenders which make the work easy for his fellow teammates.
Eric Dier
Eric Dier has been able to juggle up between the defence and the midfield. The absence of Victor Wanyama hadn’t been felt as Dier stood tall in the midfield. The 23-year-old is a very versatile player and can play at a number of positions. Dier spent most of the season playing at the back as Vertonghen and Alderweireld had been sidelined for a brief period of the season. Dier’s change of position might give Spurs an upper hand as the England international loves to maraud forward whenever he gets a chance.
