Celtic clinched yet another Scottish Premiership title despite the league season being far from over after their comprehensive 5-0 away win against Hearts, which was followed by a 1-1 draw against Partick Thistle.
However, the undeniable longing to go on the entire season as an invincible side must be hovering over the mind of Brendan Rodgers as the former Liverpool gaffer is in full mood of constructing a season which shall echo forever in the pages of history.
The Bhoys are due to face Kilmarnock on Saturday in what promises to be a crucial fixture in this aspect. Considering their league triumph, the remaining fixtures shall fetch excellent opportunities for the Scottish giants to tinker with their tactical nous and formations and here is how we believe Celtic are going to set out their starting line-up against Lee McCulloch’s outfit.
Defence
A four-man defensive wall is likely to be employed by Rodgers, with veteran Emilio Izaguirre in the right-back slot. Likely to be stationed in the left-back region is Mikael Lustig.
These two will have to be on their toes constantly and need to maintain a neat balance whilst going forward to attack and track back when needed to provide defensive solidity.
At the heart of the Celts’ defence, we expect the pair of Erik Sviatchenko and Kolo Toure being stationed with their resolute goalkeeper in the shape of Craig Gordon being engineered between the sticks this weekend.
Midfield
Callum McGregor, Nir Bitton and Scott Brown are likely to line up to form a central midfield unit of three men. They would be handed the responsibility of not only shielding their side’s backline but to also create an impetus for the attacking endeavours.
The game could really hinge on the way this trio performs and how well they knit the side together to outclass the Killie.
Attack
Leigh Griffiths and Moussa Dembele are out with knocks until 7th April as per the Transfermarkt and it is hard to imagine that Rodgers would immediately risk either of them this weekend. On the left wing, Gary Mackay-Steven is likely to be slotted into the starting line-up, whereas on the right, we expect James Forrest to get a nod.
Right up front, Scott Sinclair is expected to start the proceedings, for he was on the score sheet against Partick Thistle at the Celtic Park and should be catering to the striking needs of the club once again this weekend.
