Borussia Dortmund were held by Schalke in the Revierderby a few days ago and will be looking to get back into winning ways as they host Hamburger SV on Tuesday this week. Thomas Tuchel’s men currently sit in fourth place, just one point behind third-placed Hoffenheim, who have a tough fixture against Bayern on the same day. A win could possibly lift them to third in the League table. Here is the predicted lineup for Dortmund to feature against Hamburg.
Goalkeeper: Roman Burki could have done a much better against Schalke. He will be looking to put a strong showing and possibly keep a clean sheet.
Right Centre Back: Lukasz Piszczek will retain his spot in the starting lineup. Even though his performance on the weekend seemed a little off colour. He needs to be very solid in order to keep HSV at bay.
Centre Back: Sokratis was the one man wall versus Schalke. He was one of those plus points for Thomas Tuchel. If Dortmund are hoping to snub any danger from the opposition, this Greek defender will need to at his best.
Left Centre Back: Marc Bartra should be chosen ahead of Matthias Ginter on the left side of the defence. The 25-year-old has been in good form of late.
Central Defensive Midfielder: Julian Weigl’s positional sense will be very important for Thomas Tuchel’s team. However, he hasn’t been in good form in recent games, which should be a cause of concern for the coach.
Central Defensive Midfielder: Gonzalo Castro will accompany Weigl in the middle of the park. His neat movements and solid buildup play should help Julian Weigl to remain calm and composed.
Right Wing: Felix Passlack will most likely be dumped from the starting XI after a poor showing versus Schalke this weekend. Erik Durm might replace the young German fullback.
Central Attacking Midfielder: Shinji Kagawa is also expected to retain his place in the first team. Kagawa was one of few players who managed to shine against Schalke in the derby. His ability to find space in a confined area is what makes him a dangerous man for the opposition.
Central Attacking Midfielder: Thomas Tuchel should have one eye on the big game on the upcoming weekend against Bayern. Therefore, Ousmane Dembele will mostly likely be rested. Turkish youngster Emre Mor might start in his position. Mor was in excellent form during the international break for his national side Turkey.
Left Wing: Marcel Schmelzer was in fiery form in the past few games but he could be doubtful against Hamburg. Raphael Guerreiro will deputise for the Dortmund vice-captain on the left flank.
Striker: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is undoubtedly the most effective attacker Dortmund have at the moment. The Gabonese international has already netted 24 goals this season, tied with Robert Lewandowski as the top scorers in the league so far.
