Everton’s brilliant run in the Premier League has been halted by Liverpool and the Toffees would be very keen to regain their form when they travel to the Old Trafford to take on Manchester United. The Toffees have had a decent outing under their new manager Ronald Koeman and would be hoping for a European berth in the next season.
With only three points separating them from fifth-placed United they realistically have a chance to finish in the top six and if Arsenal somehow loses to Manchester City it would be a golden opportunity for them to cash in which they cannot miss.
Everton’s form in the Premier League in 2017 is a much-improved one. The Toffees have collected 23 points from 11 games with just two defeats. They faltered against Liverpool but in the past, they have shown the intent against the mighty Red Devils and with European spots on offer, they have to collect full points from this match.
Predicted 4-2-3-1 Everton Lineup Against Manchester United
Defence
Despite conceding three goals, Joel Robles will hold his place in the starting lineup. The shot-stopper has kept a number of clean sheets and would be tested by the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Anthony Martial.
Everton needs to tighten up their defence to deal with the pace of the United attackers and Ashley Williams and Phil Jagielka will be tasked with this.
Mason Holgate had a forgettable game against Liverpool but with Seamus Coleman missing due to an injury Koeman will use him on the right side of the defence.
Leighton Baines will continue his stride as the left-back.
Midfield
Gareth Barry will use all his experience to master the midfield. The veteran midfielder will have the help of Idrissa Gueye in the centre of the park.
Ross Barkley will have the pressure to deliver in this crunch game. The England midfielder has improved his game substantially and will once again have the responsibility to engineer the attacking third.
Attack
Koeman will use Kevin Mirallas on the right flank to use his flair and pace. The Belgian international hasn’t been able to make the impact this season but with the season nearing its end, he has to show his mettle.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin will operate from the other flank. The youngster is the find of this season and will continue his progress.
Romelu Lukaku had an awful Merseyside derby and was ineffective throughout the match. He will try to make a statement at the Old Trafford.
