The transfer window is an opportunity for the managers to make improvisations to their squad depending on what went wrong last season. It is one of the most exciting times of the season (unless you are an Arsenal fan) and pretty much sets the mood ahead of the start of the campaign.
Ahead of the season, if the question is asked that which Premier League side did the best business ,nine out of ten’s answer will be West Ham United and another must be a passionate hater of the Hammers. However, Slaven Bilic is still looking active in the market for players who can add quality to the squad.
According to CalcioMercato, West Ham United have revived their interest in Napoli striker Manolo Gabbiadini and could lodge a £21m bid for the Italian. An accomplished number nine was at the top of Bilic’s wishlist for the summer and even after the addition of Andre Ayew from Swansea, the Croatian is looking for further additions and has identified the 24-year-old as the player who can add that bit of spark up front.
Gabbiadini is one of the most versatile strikers in the game who can play in a range of attacking positions. The Italian can be deployed as the focal point of attack, a supporting striker, a number ten or even as a winger. The Italian possesses an exemplary industry and works his socks off for the side. A mobile and hard-working forward like him would complement Bilic’s counter-attacking game in a perfect manner.
The former Atalanta, Juventus and Sampdoria forward joined Napoli in January 2015 and since then, he just managed 20 goals from 60 games. Although, his average figures will fall short of the pristine mark as his game time was mostly limited at Naples. When you are playing second-fiddle to the best striker in the division Gonzalo Higuain, you cannot expect too much time on the pitch.
Despite coming on from the bench later in most games, Gabbiadini’s stats are somewhat impressive. With Higuain making his way out to Juventus, the Italian can become the first-choice striker of the Serie ahead of newly-signed Arkadiusz Milik and might not fancy a move to West Ham where he will face a greater competition or places. However, if West Ham can lure the Italian to the Olympic Stadium, it will be one hell of a signing. The 24-year-old is the perfect striker for Slaven Bilic’s counter-attacking football. He is a dynamic player who possesses a decent pace, positional sense and a solid technique. With a good body strength and hold up play, Gabbiadini can bring his teammates into the game and considering the quality wingers West Ham have, the Italian can be a menace in the Premier League.
