Defence
Without a doubt, Simon Mignolet should be Liverpool’s first-choice player under the bar. The Belgian has conceded just 24 goals in 19 appearances for them. While Loris Karius has shown glimpses of his abilities, the German would need some time to adapt to the Premier League.
Liverpool’s back line has been a subject of a huge crisis of late. While Joel Matip has been decent at the back for Klopp, he hasn’t yet managed to get a quality partner to make the position solid. The likes of Dejan Lovren and Ragnar Klavan have been extremely disappointing. Klopp’s first job coming summer would be to get a perfect centre-half and get rid of the available options. However, among the two, Lovren would get the nod.
Nathaniel Clyne has had his moments on the right flank and should keep it. He is the best available option on that front. Alberto Moreno will definitely be a goner at the end of the season and James Milner should continue in that position. The English international’s experience would be quintessential in helping Liverpool to secure a Champions League berth.
Midfield
The pivot position definitely belongs to Jordan Henderson. The club skipper is the best Liverpool can have at the moment and his leadership from the central midfield helps the team to fight. Emre Can’s displays have been immensely careless and erratic with the German international often giving away the ball.
The two attacking midfielders should be Georginio Wijnaldum and Adam Lallana. The duo has been tremendously effective in the position so far with 12 goals and 11 assists between them. And Klopp would need them to be at their clinical best if Liverpool are to finish in the top four this season. And to be honest, Liverpool doesn’t have any other natural option in that position.
Attack
Phillipe Coutinho will start on the left for sure and Sadio mane on the other flank. The two flanks have been Liverpool’s main strength this season and one of the primary reasons for the Reds being the highest scoring side (61) in the league at the moment. There have been 19 goals and 13 assists between them this season so far.
The attack should be spearheaded by Roberto Firmino in the best-case scenario. The Brazilian has netted nine times and assisted seven this season so far and his false number 9 role suits the Reds impeccably.
Coutinho – Firmino – Mane
Wijnaldum – Henderson – Lallana
Milner – Lovren – Matip – Clyne
