Marco Silva has done a tremendous job at Hull City and the Tigers have a realistic chance to survive relegation. Since Silva took over, Hull haven’t lost a single match at the KCOM Stadium and their home form could be a deciding factor if they really want to stay in the Premier league. Hull have relatively easy fixture compared to fellow relegation strugglers and also have to face Sunderland and Middlesbrough, who alongside them are sharing the bottom three spots.
Three Players Hull City Should Retain
Tom Huddlestone
The ex-Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has enjoyed a stellar season with Hull and he has emerged as a completely different player under Silva. His red card against Everton has put a question mark to Hull’s relegation fight and if they do survive, Huddlestone should get the credit but it was not an easy journey for him.
He has been in and out from the team and has struggled under Mike Phelan who even tried him in the defence. But Silva’s arrival has changed his career we could say. Silva brought the player to midfield and gave the player the license to roam around the park which changed his game. The 30-year-old has enjoyed an excellent passing rate and has been one of the most hardworking players the Premier League has seen in recent months.
Andrea Ranocchia
The on-loan Inter Milan defender has adapted beautifully to the Premier League. There is a myth that Italian players cannot succeed in the Premier League but the 29-year-old has proved it wrong. Despite making few appearances, he has impressed. The Italian has stepped up in the crunch situations and has marshalled the backline with all his experience.
He had been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur as Mauricio Pochettino was searching a suitable replacement for Jan Vertonghen who was injured at the time. Hull should try to make the move permanent but will have to shell a decent amount to sign the defender permanently.
Harry Maguire
Regardless of what happens in Hull’s relegation battle, a number of clubs would be in the line to secure the services of the defender. Maguire has been a star for Hull City, who have had an average season so far. Newcastle United have been linked with the player as Rafa Benitez would be in the need of a defender should they get promoted to the Premier League which they are likely to manage.
