This season of the Premier League has seen a lot of ups and downs. Defending Premier League champions Leicester City woefully failed to defend their title and were stuttering in the relegation zone at a point. But the departure of their title-winning manager Claudio Ranieri seemed to have done the trick as Craig Shakespeare is yet to lose a match in his new position. Leicester are unbeaten in the last three Premier League matches including a morale-boosting win over Liverpool. And similarly, there have been teams who have disappointed while a couple have indeed surprised.
Three Clubs Who Have Exceeded Expectations This Season
Tottenham Hotspur
The leading man Mauricio Pochettino is the sole reason why the North London club has so far done everything right. This is Poch’s third season with the club and the kind of influence he has brought to the club is unbelievable. The current lot of players with the likes of Dele Alli, Harry Kane, Eric Dier and Christian Eriksen has adapted to the condition beautifully and each has contributed to Spurs’ success this season.
The Europa League exit might hurt a bit but with an inexperienced size like them, it’s bound to happen. Vincent Janssen and Moussa Sissoko have been the only loose plugs in what has been a tremendous season for Tottenham Hotspur so far, domestically.
Everton
Ronald Koeman had the task to replace Roberto Martinez as the Toffees boss and he has done the job with perfection. Since Koeman was handed the job, Everton have been in impressive form displaying some outstanding football.
Their pressing football and the injunction of pace has troubled the Premier League clubs this term and we could see this from their 4-0 win over Manchester City. Everton, now seventh in the Premier League, have a tough run of games and if they can navigate these fixtures with a sense of calm, a European spot will not be far off.
West Bromwich Albion
West Bromwich Albion doesn’t have any notable names but the manager is Tony Pulis who is renowned for his composed and compact brand of football which just about ensures a mid-table finish. The likes of Jake Livermore, Craig Dawson, Darren Fletcher and Gareth McAuley have given their heart out to the team and the arrival of Nacer Chadli and Matt Phillips was like icing on the cake. The Baggies will be hoping to build on their win against Arsenal and keep surprising this season.
